Development & Design

This is a small sample of development and design work that I have done over the years.  This includes both web and desktop applications as well as some infrequent graphic artistry.

This video demonstrates six months of work funded by a NASA SBIR Phase I grant to suss the feasibility of commercialization for a new graphical user interface for the Open|SpeedShop project.

This funding was awarded to us through the proposal that was inspired by the below project.

I also did a little write-up on my coding efficiency during this project.
I designed and constructed this proof-of-concept graphical user interface for the Open|SpeedShop parallel profiling tool using Nokia's QT4 framework. It was used to demonstrate the lower time to delivery, modernity and speed of QT4 over it’s predecessor.

This prototype encouraged the development team to write a grant proposal (which was awarded) in order to leverage this technology with a new user interface.

Very small project for a construction company that needed a database to keep track of their large collection of cell phones.  Due to their need for someone in-house to make quick additions and minor tweaks and changes, this was written using Microsoft Access.

Modernization of a small-company logo using Adobe Illustrator.  This was a huge improvement over the scaled-up scan of a print they had been using for years.
I did this button set for a website design project using Adobe Photoshop.

I was approached by a graphic artist who had a great design for her website, but lacked the technical knowledge to implement it.  This site was created using PHP and quite a lot of Javascript.
This design and implementation was for an aspiring author on a budget. I was able to get her up and running in a matter of weeks with a design that she was happy with --emulating her travel notebook.

The header image is randomly selected from a directory that the writer was able to upload pictures to. This made it easy for her to update her website on the road, as she wrote a book about her travels.

I also added a few complementary flash objects to bring some select areas of the website alive.
